[Nearing decision on] a 2008 srt-4 [and found some issues]

hello i am looking at buying a used 2008 caliber srt-4, it has 29k on it stock computer some exhaust work but not correct. however i took it home for a few days and i noticed in second gear wot at about 5700-5800 rpm on boost the check engine light would come on and go off, the code i got was a p0300 random missfire, and a p2270 i think which is a bank 1 sensor 2 stuck lean, any ideas? also can anyone please look at all there data and see if they show a engine coolant sensor #2 and if it reads correctly or negative, this one shows negative but i could not find the sensor nor wiring according to the diagrams. thanks.

Re: looking to buy a 2008 srt-4

but as far as only in second gear at high rpm? i mean 3rd its fine no light, i also threw some injector cleaner in it due to the fact someone ran cheap gas in it, ( was spark knocking ) around 10 psi so id let off. but that started clearing up the more i drove it, and the check engine light didnt seem to come on as much either. do you know anything about the #2 coolant sensor? its supposed to be located under intake above knock sensor, i have a hose that comes out of that spot going to throttle body. thanks

Don't buy it. If the car is not in good working condition It's not worth it, it's not an easy car to work nor is it easy to find a good mechanic.

Mr. Keith
That doesn`t sound like catastrophic condition.

Sounds as though the car got de-moded quickly (as is often the case).

Try resetting the computer/adaptive by disconnecting BOTH battery terminals and to empty residual power in the capacitors by touching both cables together (away from the battery).

Re: [Nearing decision on] a 2008 srt-4 [and found some issues]

yes thats what i was thinking, as it has a catless o2 housing welded to a universal cat, and then the muffler section is a exhaust shop special. im think it was sold from fl to a state with emission testing. im located in florida and i know the car was originally from here. i am a mechanic at a nissan dealer. i checked all the parameters with out scanner. thats why i was curious. nother besides the o2 housing looks aftermarket, and the check engine light didnt come on last time i drove it. it spikes around 13 and falls to 9-10psi is this stock. can anyone bring up coolant temp sensor #2 and see if it reads negative? or if you can look for it under the intake? thanks for all the help.

9-10 PSI with a +2-ish spike would be stock indeed.

If you can spare the time, take photos of the engine bay and undercarriage if you can and we will try to identify anything not stock.

Because you dont have 15 posts yet, use message attachments to upload pics.

could be a shit o2 sensor. sounds like it had some quick de-moding done. I'd wait and see what they find I doubt it's anything bad. Just a quick de-mod and sold.
