5w40 is usually used for diesel engines, the "diesel" Mobil 1 5w40 just has some added stuff to be compatible with DPFs and other diesel stuff. It will work no different in a gas engine.
Definitely get the 5w20 out as soon as possible its not meant for that engine in any way. I think I have said it about 5 times on the forum, clean colour means nothing, usually its actually bad because it means your oil hasn't suspended any of the dirt in the engine.
Also Grease is correct, the old idea of having seperate oils for diesels and gas engines is outdated, especially in European oils. The A3/B4 rating actually means A3 - High Performance/ Extended Drain Gas and B4 - High Peformance Diesel w/ Direct Injection....
Here's the Chart.
A1 Fuel economy petrol
A2 Standard performance level (now obsolete)
A3 High performance and/or extended drain
A4 Reserved for future use in certain direct injection engines
A5 Combines A1 fuel economy with A3 performance
B1 Fuel economy diesel
B2 Standard performance level (now obsolete)
B3 High performance and/or extended drain
B4 For direct injection car diesel engines
B5 Combines B1 fuel economy with B3/B4 performance
