LCA bolts

I need to take my car in for service to replace the lower control arm bolts HOWEVER 1) the idea of a dealer touching my car is like allowing another man to touch your wife...I just hate the idea of it and 2) they said they need the car "all day" to diagnose and fix the repair. WTF???? All day? Its a control arm bolt, you're not replacing the bushing when you'd have to actually remove the arm and press a part out....i'm so aggrivated.

Anyway, my front end is "snapping" pretty friken bad and i'm afraid to drive it far...and of course I have to drive far in the next few days. Can I just tighten the bolts for the time being? What is the procedure? Does the vehicle have to be on the ground (fully weighted) or in the air? Anyone have the torque specs?

Thanks!
Al

Re: LCA bolts

I just went in on Monday to have link pins on front sway bar replaced. The tech checked and torqued front LCA's, axle nuts, and front end cradle. Took 1.5 hours total. Good to go.

Re: LCA bolts

LCA bolt torque spec is 135 lb/ft if no torque wrench autozone will rent it for free. Just make sure the wrench goes that high.
